Job Announcement Text:

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Rochester invites applications for a faculty position in observational or experimental astrophysics. Applicants should have a Ph.D., an outstanding record of research, and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. The position is a junior tenure-track appointment. Excellence of candidates is our highest priority, so we will consider candidates in most areas of planetary, stellar, Galactic, and high energy astrophysics. We are particularly interested in candidates working in observational exoplanetary astrophysics and instrumentation development. We intend to have privileged access to a large-diameter ground-based optical/infrared observatory, in support of the successful candidate’s research.

Each candidate should submit (1) a letter of application; (2) a curriculum vitae including a list of publications; (3) descriptions of research and teaching plans; and (4) should arrange for four letters of recommendation to be sent in support of their application. Further instructions for submission of applications may be found at:http://www.rochester.edu/faculty-recruiting. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until the position is filled, beginning 1 December 2023

The University of Rochester has a strong commitment to diversity, and actively encourages applications from candidates from groups underrepresented in higher education. The University of Rochester is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and encourages applicants from members of minority groups and women. All applications are considered without regard to race, sex, age, religion or national origin.
