Position as PhD Research fellow in cosmology is available at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics of the University of Oslo.
The fellowship period is for three years, with a starting date as soon as possible in January 2018, and no later than May 1st 2018.
The position is dedicated to a Horizon2020 funded project called BeyondPlanck, which aims to deliver new Planck LFI maps and associated science products by 2020. The position will be supervised by Prof. Hans Kristian Eriksen and Dr. Ingunn Kathrine Wehus. In addition to the University of Oslo, the BeyondPlanck collaboration include INAF Trieste, the University of Helsinki, University of Milano, and Planetek. Close collaboration with all of these institutions is expected.
The work will require a strong programming background, and previous experience with CMB data analysis is preferable. A generous personal travel/expenses grant of 50 kNOK is available per year. The institute also has access to world-class computing facilities, both in-house and on-campus, that are directly available to the candidate.
The successful candidate must hold a Master’s degree in astronomy, physics, statistics, informatics or equivalent.
