Astrophysicist on the CXC MIssion Planning Team

This is the position of Astrophysicist in the High Energy Astrophysics Division (HEAD) with the Chandra X-ray Center (CXC) at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. The employee will have responsibilities for supporting the operation of the Chandra X- ray Observatory, with duties in mission planning and scheduling activities. The employee will be expected to carry out astrophysical research with Chandra and other relevant facilities. The employee also may participate in current and future HEAD projects. Duties include but are not limited to: Providing operational support to the Chandra mission, responding in a timely manner to address unanticipated issues with the spacecraft or instruments; establishing requirements for the planning and scheduling of X-ray observations; participating in a research program in high energy astrophysics, and participating in meetings and conferences to discuss current research with other scientists and project personnel.
