Job Description

The Institute of Astronomy at National Tsing Hua University invites applicants in all research areas of astronomy and astrophysics for a number of faculty positions to start in the 2017-2018 academic year. Rankings of assistant, associate, and full professorship will be all considered, depending on the candidate qualification. Current research activities at NTHU/IoA involve theoretical investigations and observations of high-energy astrophysics, cosmology, and star and planet formation by using Chandra, XMM, Fermi, NuSTAR, Hubble, Spitzer, SMA, ALMA, etc. Faculties are involved with large surveys such as PanSTARRS, Subaru's HyperSuprimeCam survey, AKARI Infrared survey, and Fastsound infrared spectroscopic survey. On-going instrumentation projects include the Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI) in collaboration with UCB/SSL, SPICA infrared space observatory, and an optical observing network for exoplanet transit. Successful candidates are expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and to develop internationally competitive research programs. Research experiences beyond Ph.D. are preferred.
