international #researchers call

The Universidad Central de Chile (CL) is looking for international #researchers who would like to be part of our educational project. 

Specifically, we seek to generate high-quality research within the state of the art on the topics of Stellar Astrophysics, Galactic Astrophysics, Extragalactic Astrophysics, Astronomical Instrumentation and Extrasolar Planets, but not limited to.

Researchers interested in joining us can develop a challenging academic career and contribute to the growth of our institution. Successful applicants will be eligible for the 10% privileged access to all telescopes installed in Chile (VLT, Magellan, Gemini South, CTIO, SOAR, La Silla, ALMA, APEX, and ASTE), as well as to future facilities (LSST, ELT, GMT, CCAT-prime and CTA). They can analyze their data in the supercomputer facility dubbed GUINA. It is based on GPU, and CPU units, with four NVIDIA A100 80GB cards, and 2x 64-Core AMD Epyc, respectively. It is a FONDEQUIP UCEN project. The Astronomy undergraduate program runs in the city of La Serena, a coastal city close to various professional telescopes such as LSST, GEMINI, etc. 

The following profiles are sought:

Professional title of Bachelor (or Engineering) of Physics, Astronomy, or Sciences

PhD in Astrophysics

The ability to manage and analyze large databases is desirable.

Desirable the design of own algorithms to optimize calculations and analysis in the Graphic Power Units of GUINA.
