Faculty Positions DEPARTMENT OF ASTRONOMY, PEKING UNIVERSITY The Department of Astronomy (DoA) at Peking University (PKU), Beijing, China invites applications for two faculty positions, starting in the fall semester of 2017. Priority will be given to applicants with a strong record of publications in physical cosmology, galaxy formation and evolution, or star formation, but applications will be accepted from all areas of astronomy and astrophysics, including (1) cosmology, galaxy formation and evolution, (2) exoplanets, stellar populations, star formation, and IGMs, (3) high-energy astrophysics and gravitational physics, and (4) particle astrophysics. Working together with the Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at Peking University (KIAA-PKU), the DoA is to build up an international center of excellence in astronomy and astrophysics. DoA members have access to a variety of domestic and international facilities, including LAMOST, FAST, JCMT, a range of 2 to 6.5m aperture optical/infrared telescopes, and super-computational facilities.

Currently, the DoA and KIAA-PKU has about 25 faculty, 20 post-doctoral fellows, 60 graduate students, 110 undergraduates, and many visiting scholars. Particularly meritorious candidates will be considered at the level of chair professor. SALARY: Depending on qualifications and experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics completed or expected by effective date, a demonstrated record of research excellence, potential to obtain external funding, potential and commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
