DESY

DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics.

The Zeuthen location of DESY has a strong focus on astroparticle physics, particularly gamma-ray and neutrino astronomy. The experimental groups are accompanied by a strong astroparticle theory group.

The position

• Active role in H.E.S.S. and CTA
• Gamma-ray data analysis and interpretation within the institute’s H.E.S.S. group
• Preparing for science with CTA
• Contribution to CTA preparation efforts matched to the institute’s CTA programme

Requirements

• Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or astroparticle physics
• Experience in data analysis and interpretation, instrumentation and R&D, or data acquisition in astroparticle physics, high-energy physics or astrophysics

The position is limited to 2 years with the possibility of an extension. Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organisations in Germany. Classification is based upon qualifications and assigned duties. Handicapped persons will be given preference to other equally qualified applicants. DESY operates flexible work schemes.
