Announcement
Job Announcement Text:

The Cosmic Dawn Center (DAWN) at DTU Space and the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen invites applications of motivated and outstanding researchers for a postdoctoral position in observational cosmology. The applicant will be employed at DTU Space as part of the Division of Astrophysics and Atmospheric Physics and is expected to work with the High - z Universe Working Group (MIRI Hiz WG) of the JWST/MIRI Guaranteed Time Observations (GTO) team (http://www.stsci.edu/jwst/observing-programs/approved-gto-programs).

The appointment will be for a period of 3 years, capitalising on the involvement of DTU Space in James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which provided hardware for the mission and leads the High-z Universe component of the MIRI GTO program. These guaranteed observations include the MIRI Deep Imaging Survey and spectroscopy of selected high redshift galaxies within the Epoch of Reionization. In parallel to the MIRI Deep Imaging Survey, deep NIRCam imaging together with NIRISS slitless spectroscopy will be performed.

Responsibilities and tasks
The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Provide substantial support to the preparation of the reduction and the scientific analysis of the data from the MIRI Deep Imaging Survey
  • Formulate and execute scientific research aligned to MIRI High-z GTO program
  • Participate in both national and international activities associated with the Cosmic Dawn Center of Excellence

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

The applicant must demonstrate a solid background in observational cosmology.

The applicant must demonstrate experience in reducing and analyzing near/mid infrared
