The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics (https://www.astro.ucsc.edu/) at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar, under the direction of Professor Alexie Leauthaud. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct forefront research on topics related to gravitational lensing, galaxy clustering, cosmology, dark energy, and galaxy formation. The research group is involved in several wide-field state-of-the-art cosmological survey projects including the Hyper Suprime Cam Survey (HSC), LSST, WFIRST, LSST, and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). Candidates with both observational and theoretical expertise in extragalactic cosmology or galaxy formation and strong publication records are encouraged to apply. The position requires that the Postdoctoral Scholar successfully work independently and collegially in a team environment. The selected candidate will have access to the Keck and Lick Observatories and the Hyades super computer at UCSC. Initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of reappointment for a total of three years; with annual reappointment contingent upon positive performance review and availability of funding.
