Applications are invited for Post-Doctoral Associate position in the field of Galactic high-energy astrophysics at NYU Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Joseph Gelfand studying pulsar wind nebulae in the Milky Way and satellite galaxies. The primary responsibilities of this position are the analysis of archival, primarily X-ray (e.g., Chandra, XMM, Suzaku, NuSTAR, INTEGRAL) and gamma-ray (e.g., Fermi, AGILE), observations of such sources, fitting the derived properties with a model for the evolution of these sources using advanced algorithms, and the dissemination of these results in journal articles and conferences. The hired post-doctoral candidate will also be strongly encouraged to develop and pursue additional projects in this and related fields.
Applicants must have a Ph.D in astronomy, astrophysics, physics or related program. Demonstrated experience analyzing high-energy, in particular gamma-ray, observations of Galactic sources is particularly desired.
The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
