Organisation Within OmegaCEN, the expertise centre for astronomical information technology at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute of the University of Groningen, there are two vacancies for temporary positions for data scientists /scientific programmers. The functions are in the context of two projects: the Target Proeftuin, Mining Big Data and the Internet of Things, Business value from the Intelligent Swarm. 

Job description We seek two data scientists / scientific programmers to take a major role in the development of intelligent information systems for Big Data. The information systems will combine extreme data lineage and machine learning to make predictions and provide answers by linking up data sources. The information systems are geared to three domains: data tracing (‘facts and fakes’), smart systems for sensor grids and virtual reality. You will be embedded in the existing Target team of two dozen experts in information technology.
