We seek an astronomer or astrophysicist committed to teaching undergraduate and graduate physics students, astronomy minors, and general education students; to mentoring undergraduate and graduate research projects; and to developing a strong, independent research program related to spectroscopy at any wavelength (observational, theoretical, or experimental).

Preferred Qualifications include: Demonstrated research interests that contribute to collaborative research efforts among other faculty in the Center for Pure and Applied Photosciences (such candidates may have the opportunity to teach Ph.D. level special topics courses through the Center’s interdisciplinary doctoral program and to involve Ph.D. students in their research); postdoctoral research experience beyond that obtained as a doctoral student; experience with active learning pedagogies (provide examples, if applicable); experience teaching college-level astronomy or physics courses as instructor of record or as a TA (list courses and role, if applicable); and experience with community outreach (provide examples, if applicable).

Application materials must include a cover letter, a CV, and statements of both research plans and teaching interests and philosophy. Additionally, a statement addressing commitment and goals to advance diversity in research, instruction, or engagement is required. Names and email addresses must also be provided for three professional references who will provide current (dated within the past year) letters of recommendation.
