Job Description

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work on HST observational studies of distant galaxies, low-redshift analogs, and galaxy cluster lenses. Completed observations include ACS and WFC3/IR imaging and COS and STIS spectroscopy. Additional observations are anticipated from accepted HST and JWST programs. Collaborators will include Harry Ferguson, Alaina Henry, Swara Ravindranath, Bethan James, Dan Coe, Larry Bradley, and others at STScI and elsewhere in our large teams.

STScI, located on Johns Hopkins University Campus in Baltimore, Maryland, offers an excellent benefit package, competitive salaries, and a stimulating work environment. STScI’s pay is commensurate to the year of Ph.D.

Expected start date is flexible: spring / summer / fall 2022. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in astronomy or a related field by the time of hiring. The initial appointment is for one year, renewable up to a total of three years. The position includes funds for travel, publications, and computing, and offers a competitive salary.
