The JIVE Council is seeking the next Director of JIVE. The position is initially for five years, with possible renewal. Deadline for application is 31 July 2022 23:59 UTC.
JIVE is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium recently established by the EC to support the European VLBI Network (EVN) and its users. Founded in 1994, originally as legal entity in the Netherlands, JIVE ERIC is a worldwide recognized leader institution for VLBI, currently supported by seven member countries (UK, The Netherlands, Sweden, France, Spain, Latvia, Italy), with other and bilateral arrangements with research entities in Germany, South Africa and China.
JIVE’s core mission is to promote and implement the use of VLBI and other radio astronomy techniques. In addition to its strong operational focus for the EVN, JIVE actively pursues and leads a number of (externally funded) large-scale technical development projects for radio astronomy. JIVE also provides technological support to new stations aspiring to join the EVN, and is actively supporting the developments of VLBI capabilities into the SKA.
JIVE is hosted in Dwingeloo (the Netherlands) by ASTRON, which operates LOFAR and the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope and is involved in a wide range of R&D and radio astronomy research. There is a lively scientific and technical community in Dwingeloo which also has close interactions with university astronomers in the Netherlands.
