The Rutgers University Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a postdoctoral research position starting on, or after, September 1, 2019. The successful applicant will work under the guidance of Professor Kristen McQuinn and contribute to a research program on near-field cosmology and the star formation histories and chemical evolution of nearby galaxies. The successful candidate will be expected to work on the above topics, explore new opportunities on nearby galaxies with large data-sets, and develop and lead their own projects within this framework. The appointment will be for an initial period of two years, with renewal for a third year contingent upon satisfactory performance.
Applicants must have a PhD in astronomy or physics by the start date. Candidates with demonstrated research experience in extragalactic observations in the nearby Universe are particularly encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae including a list of publications, a signed cover letter, and a brief (3 page max) statement of research interests via this link https://jobs.rutgers.edu/. The candidate should also arrange for three reference letters to be emailed to Lisa Cascio ([email protected]).
Apply by January 20, 2019 for full consideration; applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled or until May 15, 2019.
