About the Roles

We welcome applications for up to 25 Lectureship / Senior Lectureship positions and for up to 5 Readerships/Professorial positions, as part of a further round of major investment in the Faculty of Science and Engineering in the above strategic research areas.

Those appointed will be welcomed, supported, mentored and inspired as successful independent researchers within one of our five academic Schools: Biological and Behavioural Sciences (SBBS); Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (EECS); Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS); Mathematical Sciences (SMS); and Physical and Chemical Sciences (SPCS). Allocation to a host school will be based on alignment with research and teaching areas with the School.

For those joining at Reader/Professor level, we will support you in continuing to lead your own successful research team as well as wider leadership across the School and Faculty as appropriate.

At all levels of appointment, there will be significant opportunity to collaborate and develop your career with colleagues across the Faculty of Science and Engineering as well as with colleagues in the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences and Medicine and Dentistry.

About You

Successful candidates will be at the appropriate academic level with a PhD and an impressive research track record, including applying for and winning external funding to support your research. Successful candidates will show the capability to support a successful research group, delivering high quality outputs, and research impact and providing a positive contribution to student education.

For applicants at Reader and Professorial level you should be internationally leading in your research field with an existing portfolio of appropriate grant funding and highest quality research outputs.

These posts will be primarily based at our Mile End Campus, but with the possibility of working at other campuses from time to time. They are full time permanent appointments (though part time roles and applications will be received positively). The posts can start from February 2023 onwards.

The starting salary for Lecturers is in the range of £44,931-£50,047 per annum and up to £60,592 for exceptional performance. For Senior Lecturers, the salary range is £58,949-£65,823 and for Readers up to £73,562 for exceptional performance, these salaries are inclusive of London Allowance. Professorial salaries are competitive, starting at a minimum of £73,500.
