The Department of Physics at the University of Bath is an internationally leading research focused department. It is ranked 4th nationally for the impact of its research with 91% of our research rated as world leading or internationally excellent. The Department’s research themes cover Astrophysics; Nanoscience and Photonics, all underpinned by a strong theory activity, which in addition has a distinct research programme of its own.
The Department has over 40 academic staff with over 80 postdoctoral researchers & PhD students and recruits approx.120 high-calibre undergraduate students per annum.
As Professor you will be responsible for enabling a research agenda to further enhance the Department’s reputation and engage with senior colleagues, both internal and external to the University, to ensure a strong research funding portfolio underpinning those aspirations. You will have a proven track record of securing grant income and the ability to work in collaboration with colleagues across disciplines.
You will have an established international research track record in any area of Physics relevant to the Department and the University. We are particularly keen to strengthen our inter-disciplinary research agenda and research links to other Departments, in areas such as energy materials or biophysics.
