Job Description

The Division of Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy (PMA) is seeking to identify outstanding candidates for the position of Caltech Research Professor to play an integral role in:

(1) research in optical time-domain astronomy,
(2) development of tools and techniques for time-domain astronomy, and 
(3) operations of the Zwicky Transient Factory (ZTF; http://www.ptf.caltech.edu/ztf).

Applicants should have a strong record in research and technique development in relevant areas of astronomy.  Candidates should upload a CV, a vision statement (not exceeding 6 pages) to https://applications.caltech.edu/job/astronomy and also ensure that at least five letters of reference from those who are familiar with the candidate's accomplishments are submitted on their behalf to this website. The position is open for a start date as early as March 1, 2017.  Given that first light of ZTF is expected in Spring 2017 (followed by a 6-month commissioning period) we are looking for candidates who can start in the position as soon as possible.
