SRON's mission is to bring about breakthroughs in international space research. The institute develops pioneering technology and advanced space instruments, and uses them to pursue fundamental astrophysical research, Earth science and exoplanetary research.
The Astrophysics Group of SRON has a vacancy for a 4-years PhD position (f/m), funded by an NWO-Vidi grant.
The PhD student will work in the group of Dr. E. Costantini.
The goal of this project is to investigate the average chemical properties of the interstellar medium. The student will mainly deal with both astronomical data, observed by the high-energy resolution gratings of the Chandra and XMM-Newton observatories, and laboratory data of interstellar dust.

Employment of this 4-years, full-time, position is by NWO (The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research). The salary will be in accordance with the salary scales of NWO, starting at €2.211- in the first year and growing to €2.834- in the fourth year of employment.
