The Astrophysics Group at the University of Exeter (UK) is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow to work with Prof. Tim Naylor on the variability of pre-main-sequence stars.  This fixed-term position is funded by a Leverhulme Grant, and is available for 3 years (subject to a 12-month probationary period), beginning no later than 28th February 2017.

The primary aim of the project is to use ground-based optical and IR observations to follow pre-main-sequence variables identified by the GAIA satellite.   In addition to analysing, interpreting and publishing the data the appointee will also be involved in organising and co-ordinating observations across a collaboration.   This programme hosted within Exeter’s large group working in the general area of star formation.

Applicants must have a PhD in astrophysics or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) or expect to have obtained one before taking up the position.  The salary is in the range of £33,574 up to £35,609 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experiences.
