The Kavli Institute for Cosmology, University of Cambridge (Located at the West Cambridge Site), is offering one junior research fellowship. The Kavli Institute Junior Fellowship will be for three years starting in October 2017. Applicants must have a PhD in Astronomy or a related field, or have submitted by the start date of the fellowship. The Junior Fellowship is aimed at early stage career researchers. We welcome applicants from observers and theorists with interests relevant to one or more of the scientific themes of the Kavli Institute for Cosmology (see www.ast.cam.ac.uk/kavli), i.e. the Cosmic Microwave Background and the early Universe, the formation and evolution of galaxies and of supermassive black holes, large scale surveys and the low frequency Universe.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop research objectives and conduct collaborative and independent scientific research, write up research work for publication and presentation, assist with grant proposals and use of resources, may be requested to assist with the supervision of graduate students and outreach as requested by the Director of the Kavli Institute. Applicants must have excellent communication and computing skills.

Salary will be on the Postdoctoral scale (Grade 5 or Grade 7), within the range £25,023 to £28,982 or £28,982- £37,768 p.a. depending on experience plus superannuation benefit. A research allowance of £4,000 pa will be provided.
