The School for Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) at Arizona State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Dr. Evgenya Shkolnik on the characterization of exoplanetary systems. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible appointment. The initial appointment is for one year. Renewal for a second or third year is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. The start date is negotiable, but no later than September 2017. Salary is competitive and funding for computer resources, travel reimbursement, and moving expenses are possible.
The successful candidate will have full access to world-class telescopes and instruments through the Arizona telescope system, which provides access to the 11-meter equivalent Large Binocular Telescope, the 6.5-meter MMT, the 2.2-meter Bok telescope (all in Arizona), and the twin 6.5-meter Magellan telescopes at LCO in Chile, along with several smaller telescopes. In addition, SESE hosts an interdisciplinary theoretical program, laboratories for the development of state-of- the-art instrumentation, and extensive computing facilities, including in-house parallel supercomputers.
Minimum Qualification:
-- A Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, planetary science, or a closely related field by the start date
-- Applicants must be within five years of receipt of their doctoral degree to be considered eligible for this position
Desired Qualifications:
-- Experience with spectroscopic data
-- A record of publications in stellar and/or exoplanetary research.
